The Insight Show | Day Three “Let them eat cake”
29/06/2012

Well that’s that then; day two of the Insight Show is done and dusted, meaning (sadly) that we have had to pack up the old van once more and head back up’t North to Face Facts Towers. Thankfully with a significantly lighter load, now that we are minus 300 cupcakes (aside from the few we managed to keep for those back in HQ, who having missed out on the fun, shouldn’t have to miss out on the cake too)!

Let’s take it back to the start…

… well back to last night, where we mingled our way around the Research Club. To some extent anyway, as the football was on and apparently everybody’s priorities change for those 90 odd minutes! But that aside, what a wonderful evening! The world of research really is full of fantastic people (we like to think ourselves included!). Unfortunately what happens in the Research Club stays in the Research Club, it’s the oldest of pacts and I can’t spill any beans. But suffice to say we had a giggle with our friends and peers whilst enjoying the ‘odd’ complementary glass of wine…! But with the threat of another early start, we headed to bed; ensuring that we were bright and breezy on day two of the Insight Show!

Back in our Sunday best (you know what we mean) we had another fabulous day. With the treasure hunt proving to be super popular we stickered away many hopeful bods as they raced around in the hope of winning a shiny new iPad! And this wasn’t the only competition going on; the exhibitors themselves upped the anti, which saw things heating up amongst the researchers and marketers alike. After all a bit of healthy competition should be encouraged!

The day also saw Face Facts’ always effervescent MD, Alison White take to the stage again to share with the audience the secrets of the trade, her ambitions and inspirations in; “The Industry and I”. Anther roaring success where laughter and learning proved once again to be a winning combo.

But all too soon it was 5pm and we had to pack up, unscrew and dismantle the beautiful Face Facts café. Thankfully there were some sweets, lemonade and cakes left, so sugar proved once again to be our friend as we powered through the evening.

With the van, packed up for the last time, the three musketeers started the long drive home. The fourth (little old me) hit the road… sorry railway…  to get back to the homelands. And just before my eyes really do close, a quick reflection on what have been a great few days.

Yes we are absolutely shattered, but we have and always will, play hard and work hard. The café was a roaring success, Alison’s speeches went down a treat, and we saw many of our old friends and made so many new ones. Yes I think we also gained a few pounds from all the sugar, but it was our fuel for those few mad days! So with a smile on my sleepy, slightly dishevelled face, I want to pass on the team’s thanks everyone for visiting us, the Insight Show staff for being so helpful and to you for reading.

Hope to catch you next year for another fabulous Insight Show!
